The Frivolous Seal

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , on June 9, 2008 by dc

As I brushed off
Words of doubting
And grew myself
A jaw,
She cracked
My every knuckle
And danced
Across the floor.

With her handmade
Padded whispers
And her verbs
Of thorny frost
She stamped
The frivolous seal
And sucked
My buckles off.

Her shapes
Were all triangles,
Her weapons
Hounds and horns,
As I crackled
In her dainty fire
And gently popped
Like corn.
