In the Blue Room

In the blue room
The worries gather,
The walking memories,
The groan of time,
The no sleep
And the cancerous birdsong,

When blue breaks
It’s yellow
I’ll fall,

Till then the joke’s yet to split,
I’m unfit for these trials
But I’m conscious and stubborn
Like the smile of a boxer
Bent over the ropes,

A hand of hope
Stretching
All blue and disfigured.
