Day Out

The geese by the lake
Honk loudly in unison
Cacophonies bloom,

Stuttered words dry mouths
Hushed pauses and nearly tears
As a child decides,

Confusions in zoom
The family hurries along
The geese follow suit.

Glade Plug-In

Her life was like
A glade plug-in,

A smell masking
All her paranoia
And doubt,

A flowery bloom
Cloaking all fears,

A breezy invasion
Of faked joy
And wonder.

The Shots vs The Ants

You called all the shots,
Filled the sugar bowls up
And invited the ants,

By the ruined surprise.

Just Like The Cowboy

And then
Just like the cowboy
All piss stained
And booze sodden
The slide guitar
And the sky

The town was silent
As the moon rose

And the sun
Waved its last goodbye,

Panting on the dusty path,
Trying not to lie.

Polystyrene People

They squeak
When you
Touch them,

Stand still,
Ghostly white.

Late at night
They move,

But trust me it’s
Only a draft,

Their laugh
Is the echo
Of strangers

And danger
Was never
Their game,

Than blinks
On a train,

Their names.

Dust Balls

They made us tell truths
Painted us into corners
And showed us Autumn,

We were not ready
The sun was raw and upset
As shadows appeared,

And there we shivered
Caught like the wayward dust balls
Lost in transition.
