Polystyrene People

They squeak
When you
Touch them,

Stand still,
Ghostly white.

Sometimes
Late at night
They move,

But trust me it’s
Only a draft,

Their laugh
Is the echo
Of strangers

And danger
Was never
Their game,

Blanker
Than blinks
On a train,

No-one
Remembers
Their names.
