They spoke to ceilings
Like they believed
In something,

Some misty force
With rules
And strange visions.

They sang songs
And perpetuated

Their favourite notes
And improvised.

In times
Of great danger and woe
They kept on singing,

Even when the rooves
Of their dreams
Sadly sagged,

Songs filled their lives
And kept them
At ease.

Their bodies burnt quickly.

They were wildly naive.
