Unknown Unknowns

I lay dizzy,
Lost somewhere,
Soaking up the dew,
Ears popping;

There were unknown
Unknowns in my data,

Kinks that couldn’t correspond,

Shards of cryptic shapes
And stuttered birdsong,

The sky above me streamed
Intoxicating tears,

Warm but insincere,

Like the sky could fully close
And just leave me
Wondering why?

Then dawn whistled,
Circles turned,

The tree arcs shed light
And the landscape caught whispers
As a weary sun yawned,

It’s energy grazing,

Uniformly seeping
Through a new equinox,

A glow licking the distance,

Contours and patterns expanding
From one transposition to the next,

Into something more knowable,
Realised and clear,

Warm and sincere,

In the where
We were once.
