Redneck Wisdom

Sometimes life twists your nipples
To jolt you into action,

Sometimes it twists them
Just to cause pain.

But if you look down
And truly observe
What’s happening,

Most of the time you’ll notice
You’re just twisting them yourself.

The boiler
And the persistent winds
Tell us,
Speak,
Speak!

The boiler
And the persistent winds
They tell us,
Sleep.

Bleak Tea Party Faux-Pas

And so it came to pass
That we were the fools,

For we thought
There was a reason,

A set of guidelines,
Standard rules.

But when the oceans
Start to burn

And the clouds
Turn into fists,

The only thing
Worth Knowing

Is that these biscuits
Taste of piss.

A hundred smiles brought the sun
The heavens stood strong,

Romance ushered joy
Sweet songs and poetry shone
And we were all one

All doubting days gone,
Love in excelsior.

Bending Your Neck

Look down at your feet,
There’s a map of blue veins
All leading to dead ends,

Look up to the sky,
Clouds move as you breath.

There’s a beauty in bending your neck.

He’s electrified

By dust cells,

Stirring porridge

By your side.

Sing

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 14, 2009 by dc

When it’s clear you’re the second choice
And the night is a quiet as a distant moon dying,

When nothing you say comes out like it should
And loneliness gathers like dust,

Sing.
